Sometimes, what you plant doesn’t produce a harvest right away. As frustrating as it may be, you must admit that maybe the conditions weren’t favorable; you dropped the ball somewhere. Whether you over or underwatered, neglected the soil, or failed to give your plant enough sunlight, it’s time to acknowledge where you went wrong and reset.
2024 marked my fourth year of full-time business, and if I had to choose one word or phrase to describe it, it would be….dumpster fire. All jokes aside, it was tough, but I learned so much as a copywriter and agency owner. The #1 lesson? Make plans, but accept the detours. You can always get back on the main road. Now, without further ado, let’s get into the 2024 specifics.

Revenue started to dip in October 2023 and continued throughout 2024. Though there were months of increase, 2024 was a stark difference from highly profitable months in years past (specifically 2021 and 2022). Overall, Kopy Fresh experienced a 36% decline in revenue from FY 2023 to 2024.
We did, however, manage to reduce our expenses.
Most Profitable Month: October (compared to last October being one of the lowest for FY ‘23)
Least Profitable Month(s): February and April
Social Media
Admittedly, we weren’t as active online this year. It was necessary to step away without the pressure of being “on” all the time. While we didn’t produce as much content, what we did share was more purposeful and targeted, solidifying our messaging strategy.

Top 5 Business Lessons
Do more of what you love; eliminate what you don’t. That’s why we will no longer provide resume writing services.
Don’t expect to get out what you didn’t put in.
There is never a reason to underprice your services. Charge the full amount every time.
Focus on the money, and you will never be satisfied. Focus on the impact instead.
Be a person of your word or shut up.
Getting Personal
I’ll keep it real. My body, mind, and spirit are far more important than any business goal. I can’t expect Kopy Fresh to be successful if I’m not. Here’s where I landed in 2024:
Relational Health
I spent lots of time with friends and loved ones this year. Date nights with the hubs became a priority, and I became more intentional about maintaining positive connections. I also opened myself up to events and circumstances where I met new people.
Physical Health
I started the year as a vegetarian and managed to keep up the lifestyle for six months. I lost 11 lbs this year (have successfully kept 7 lbs off). I also remained consistent with my gym, vitamin, water, and walking regimen. In fact, I ended September winning a 10K Steps/Day Challenge! I cumulated over 721,395 steps in 30 days! The journey to optimal health continues…
Mental Health
I’d be lying if I said 2024 didn’t do a number on me. If I’m honest, my mental health has been on the struggle bus since 2023, even as a self-care, “me time” proponent. The good news is that I recognized my challenges and created a plan to address them head-on. I’m going into 2025 with a new therapist!
Spiritual Health
I spoke to God daily, spent 259 out of 365 days in the Bible app (memorized a few new scriptures), and attended Sunday service and Bible study most of the year. My prayer life remains a priority, and I’m still learning to sit still and BE.
Financial Health
Confession time: I always tithed when I had a “steady” income as an employee or long-term contractor. I even pay tithes biweekly from my husband’s full-time income as my home’s unofficial CPA. But the truth is, I have never tithed off Kopy Fresh’s net income. As a Christian woman, I had to put my money where my mouth was…literally.
The irony is I started putting my tithes aside in January 2024 after reading The 12 Week Year. The money sat in my account’s “reserves” all year, waiting for me to initiate the transfer. I finally pulled the trigger and made my first lump-sum Kopy Fresh tithe payment! It’s the beginning of my reinvigorated faith walk as a consistent tither.
Personal Development
This year, I read several fictional, autobiographical, business, and self-help books, many borrowed from my local library. Each one refreshed me or taught me something new. Here are a few memorable reads:
Summer on the Bluffs
You Are a Bad*ss at Making Money
Think Faster: Talk Smarter
Black Cake
In progress: Sacred Rest (I’m currently taking a class through my church as we read this book)
Service
I lent my time and talents to several great causes this year. I’m passionate about helping others and plan to continue making a difference in 2025 and beyond.
📌Final Note
2024 was a wild ride for me and Kopy Fresh, but it had several bright moments. In preparation for the new year, I’ve mapped out my first 12-week goals and am excited to put my new vision board together. I’m purging everything from clothes and shoes to paperwork and accounts I follow.
As I continue my PLANTING season, I look forward to seeing those early 2024 seeds come to fruition. Being a small business is more than generating revenue; it’s about connecting to your purpose and the people who will benefit most from your products and services. At the end of the day, we are here to serve. That will always remain at the core of my mission.
Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year! Here’s to more growth in 2025!
